Lewis Stevenson at The Hibs Club

The Hibs Club was delighted that Saturday’s Edinburgh derby victory marked another milestone for Lewis Stevenson.

The 2-1 victory saw Lewis surpass the legendary Gordon Smith with the most appearances for Hibs in derby games.

And what better way to celebrate than with a first Tynecastle win since 2013?

Our 2019 Player of the Year

Lewis Stevenson

Lewy’s record breaking derby appearance came a few days after he was announced the Hibernian Supporter Association’s Player of the Year at our sold out dinner at Sunnyside.

Lewis – and his changing hairstyles – have been a feature of our Player of the Year nights since his first team breakthrough.

It says much for the impact that his dedication, commitment and ability that this year he was again the choice of a majority of our branches in the Player of the Year vote.

Lewis has now won multiple Player of the Year awards, was twice voted our Young Players of the Year and received a Special Recognition Award in 2014.

In addition, along with his Scottish Cup winning teammates, Lewis was an inaugural member of our Hibernain Supporters Association Legends branch.

Our other award winners

We were also delighted to honour Ryan Porteous who our branches voted as Young Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

Our Most Memorable Moment award completed a night for multiple winners as Vykintas Slivka repeated his win from last year.

Slivka’s early goal in our league win over Celtic at Easter Road was this year’s special moment.

There was also recognition for our travelling supporters as fans rep Frank Dougan handed over the award recently presented to Hibs by the Scottish Football Supporters Association.

The Fans Awards, voted for by supporters from across the country, saw Hibs named as Scotland’s best travelling support.

Thanks to all who joined us at our Player of the Year night – we’re looking forward to next year already.

Special thanks to our sponsors, Belhaven, for their continued support of The Hibs Club.
